WWR Winston (Winston)

WWR Winston (Winston)

Winston is the son of Wilber and a sporting image of him.

As shown in the photos below, which are an age and coat progression of our boy, he appears incredibly unique, born a very brown mink with no ticking, as he ages he slowly gained heathering, eventually having his brown begin to fade out around his face and up his sides.

A dorsal stripe was visible for many months and we wondered if it would ever truly go away.

Next came the big difference, all the brown seemed to fade away and out of his fur, leaving an almost Russian Blue appearance, with pearly white ticking rather than the traditional darker tones.

We have often wondered if this is a potential new gene, which we have been calling 'Otter', the photos truly do not do any justice to the coat colour, like mink pearl it is two tones, with the undercoat being the most lovely pale pearl colour, which can be seen in the last photo in the gallery. We have produced both American blue agouti, and Russian Blue about, and this is something very different. We understand the adult coat shares similarity, although it appears and matures so vastly different.

We are currently test breeding this potential new variety.
