Whimsical Whiskers Rattery

Wilber is the rat that started our whole program. Our founding Buck, Wilber lived to be one week shy of 3 years old and had the temperment of a toasted marshmallow. He had dashing good looks, and we can proudly say was invaluable for adding health, soft temperment, and longer lifespan to our lines.

Originally thought blue agouti, Wilber has been a bit of a mystery, when we brought him home, we were not concerned about what colour variation he happened to be, but rather health and temperment, and to an extent that was unfortunate, as we missed some very crucial photo opportunities. Wilber did not present ticking in his coat, and being inexperienced at the time, we thought nothing of it as he began to grow ticking and fade out most of his brown, although he did begin to rust at around the year and a half old.

We have seen this pattern repeated with his son, Winston, to the point of every trace, of brown faded out to clearly defined white ticking and are currently test breeding his lines to see if it is possible.we have a new time of fading mutation occuring.
